We would like to wish everyone a blessed New Year.
"I will accept you (graciously) as a pleasant odor when I lead you out from the peoples and gather you out of the countries in which you have been scattered, and I will manifest My holiness among you in the sight of the nations (who will seek Me because of My power displayed in you)" Ezekiel 20:41 Amplified version
The word "scatter" according to the dictionary means "to break up and go in different directions, to sow or distribute by handfuls, to separate widely in different directions". At this busy season with all the preparations for Christmas it is very easy to feel scattered and thrown in different directions.
Yet our main focus must be on why we were placed here at this time, so that people will seek Jesus because of the power that is displayed in us! What an awesome statement, that nations will seek the Lord not because of some great leader but His Power displayed in us! Our witness to the world at this time is so vital, it does not have to necessarily be said in words, but can manifest in our attitude and actions as we allow the Holy Spirit to permeate and transform our lives. Then outwardly manifest it by sowing our lives into others.
Maybe if we started ‘sowing and distributing by handfuls’ our peace and joy in the Lord to those around us who do not know what peace and joy are. We sometimes associate sowing with giving money, but it is also sowing all kinds of seeds that will bring a harvest of various "fruits".
It can be as simple as a smile to a worn out cashier at the store, sending encouraging words in a Christmas card, or inviting someone who is all alone, due to a death in the family; for a Christmas meal. Just being sensitive to the leading of the Lord, and asking what can I give as my birthday present to Him. There is an English Carol called In the Bleak Mid Winter has one verse with these very simple yet moving words;
"What can I give Him poor as I am, if I were a shepherd I would bring a lamb
If I was a wise man I would do my part, yet what can I give Him-
give--- my heart."
All it takes is one person giving that love to another and it will ricochet to all those around.
More and more we see the results of our nation that is so controlled by self. The Bible warns us time and time again not to conform to this world and its fleeting pleasures:
"From the sole of the foot even to the head there is no soundness or health in (the nation’s body) –but wounds and bruises and fresh and bleeding stripes; they have not been pressed out and closed up or bound up or softened with oil. (No one has troubled to seek a remedy.)" Isaiah 1:6
How can we heal the wounds of the nation when there is bleeding and lacerations in the Body of Christ? There are so many who have been betrayed and hurt by fellow Christians. This is not only true of America but it happening in the Body worldwide. How can we show we are Christians by our love and yet stab one another, by having a critical attitude or speaking harshly out of a judgmental spirit to each other? What is the remedy? Verse 17 & 18 of the same chapter says;
"Learn to do right! Seek justice, relieve the oppressed, and correct the oppressor. Defend the fatherless, plead for the widow. Come now, and let us reason together, says the Lord. Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow, though they are red like crimson, they shall be like wool."
We need to repent for our nation, then the Lord will heal our land (2 Chron 7:14)
